Meditation for Trauma Healing, Anxiety & Nervous System Regulation
Holistic Meditation Support for Inner Child Healing, Emotional Regulation & Self Connection
Meditation is one of the holistic healing modalities I integrate into counselling sessions to support nervous system regulation, inner child healing and trauma recovery.
Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck in survival mode or trapped in unhealthy relationship patterns they do not fully understand. Meditation can help calm the nervous system, increase self awareness, and create a felt sense of grounding and inner safety.
Within my holistic counselling sessions, meditation is used as a therapeutic tool to help clients release stress, anxiety, mind chatter and stagnant energy.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, childhood trauma, attachment wounds, overwhelm, low self worth, people pleasing, perfectionism or chronic stress, meditation can become a powerful support for healing and transformation.
How Does Meditation Help?
Do you experience stress, anxiety, overwhelm or sleeplessness?
Even 5 minutes of stillness and meditation can be enough to take you out of fight or flight.
Meditation creates a safe place for you to become acquainted with past or future versions of yourself, it exposes both your future potential and the obstacles to aligning with it.
I use Meditation in a variety of ways to support healing in my Holistic Counselling sessions. It can be used to cut cords, to facilitate forgiveness, heal ancestral wounds, view past lives or let go of unwanted energy and limiting beliefs.
Meditation supports a deep state of relaxation where your mind gets out of the way so you can connect with your intuition and deep inner knowing, in this space true healing is possible.
What Is Meditation in Holistic Counselling?
In holistic counselling, meditation is used to help you:
Slow down and live mindfully
Regulate your nervous system
Develop emotional awareness
Cultivate self love
Feel safer within your body
Process stored emotions
Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
Create space between triggers and reactions
Reconnect with your inner child
Meditation works to expose your subconscious fears and limitations to clear out old energy and open you up to new ways of experiencing yourself. By incorporating meditation into your daily routine, you can experience increased relaxation, relief from anxiety and profound shifts towards greater levels of inner freedom and happiness.
Meditation as Part of a Holistic Healing Journey
Meditation is not used to bypass emotions or avoid difficult experiences.
Instead, it becomes a supportive healing tool that helps you process emotions more safely, and create greater balance and nervous system regulation over time.
Some clients choose to incorporate meditation practices between sessions, while others simply experience guided meditation within our counselling work together.
Wherever you are in your healing journey, meditation can offer an opportunity to pause and begin relating to yourself with greater compassion and understanding.

What is Meditation?
Meditation is a practice that involves training the mind to focus and redirect thoughts. It is often used to increase awareness, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.
There are many different meditation techniques, but most involve finding a quiet space, adopting a comfortable posture, (usually seated or lying down) and concentrating on a specific object, thought, or activity, such as breathing or repeating a mantra. Through consistent practice, meditation can help you develop a sense of inner peace, improve concentration and clarity of thought, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.
Guided Meditation is when an experienced facilitator takes you through a specific process during mediation, and directs your thoughts to a particular person, place or time. This process enables you to acquire new insights and understanding or to let go of old programming and limiting beliefs.
Guided mediations can be brief or can go for anywhere up to an hour depending on the scope of healing required.

Using Affirmations
In guided meditation, affirmations are positive statements that are repeated aloud or silently with the intention of instilling a particular mindset or belief.
Affirmations can be chosen intuitively by drawing a card from a pile or can be created specifically with the intention of healing a particular wound, ailment or belief.
Affirmations are typically repeated multiple times throughout the guided meditation session. The repetition helps reinforce the positive message and allows it to sink into the subconscious mind. Participants may be encouraged to silently repeat the affirmation in sync with their breath or as a mantra.
Affirmations can be combined with visualization techniques to enhance their effectiveness. Participants may be guided to visualize themselves embodying the qualities or beliefs expressed in the affirmation. For example, if the affirmation is "I am confident and empowered," participants may visualize themselves standing tall and assertive, radiating confidence.
Meditation for Inner Child Healing & Self Worth
Many life-long patterns begin in childhood.
If you learned to suppress emotions, prioritise others’ needs, avoid conflict, stay hyper independent, or disconnect from yourself in order to feel safe, meditation can help you discover and reconnect with the parts of yourself that need healing and support.
Meditation can help you:
Develop a healthier relationship with yourself
Reconnect with emotions safely
Build self trust
Strengthen self worth
Learn to nurture yourself with compassion
Feel more emotionally present and grounded
Within sessions, meditation may also be combined with holistic counselling, inner child healing, nervous system support, mindfulness and energy healing techniques to support deeper transformation.

I first met my inner child five years ago, during a healing session with a psychic. She transported me to a time when I was about 3 years old, feeling very afraid and trying to hide in my mother’s skirts so as not to get in trouble. As a parent myself that image really touched me…
